***STAR OF THE WEEK***

So here it is FINALLY, no mistakes this time, they remembered to feature the poor little guy...Of course I bought all the copies the rec center had tonight. Tomorrow I will go into our little town and buy up the rest...

Swimming lessons finished up today...no one got leveled up, but they all did really good considering they have NEVER been in lessons before. We celebrated with a Mc.D's dinner...barf...I will wash the taste out of my mouth later with a martini...

The craft fair was pretty disappointing, very few people came through, and even fewer bought. Thankfully I made enough to pay for the table and the babysitter and come home with a little cash as well. I sold about 50 sets of clips, not to bad...now here is where it gets exciting...someone who bought a couple sets also runs our islands biggest baby fair, she emailed me this morning and invited me to sell there next summers end! This time I will have 8 months to get ready, so there is no way I can goof off this time...if I do please remind me and kick my butt back into gear.

I have lots of left overs from this past craft fair so I will be listing as soon as we have a NON-rainy day here so I can take pictures.

Wishful thinking...we have been here since July and I swear it has rained nearly every day! Whatever! there is always the stove top, the light there is awesome.

So again thanks for reading, and feel free to comment, suggest, or leave a thoughtful thought...

Happy Wednesday!

***BTW! I figured out how to link my pictures...YAY ME!

2 days to go! Where is it?

So here we go the big count down...Saturday is the big day... and I am soooo not ready! Well maybe mostly ready, but still work needs to be done. The craft fair is on Saturday...I don't even know how to get there! eep! I will google map it to find out how to get there and I will have my cell phone so I can call for help. I have the worst sence of direction ever! I got lost going to the grocery store once and got home over an hour later...So that is why I have a cell phone to call for directions.

On another note my middle son was supposed to be featured in our local paper yesterday nad they forgot to put him in. They promiced he would be in next week...stay tuned!
I decided this year with the kids Christmas money from relatives I would add to their swimming lessons instead of buying them a dumb toy they wouldn't play with in 3 days...any opinions on this?

So today is a short blog, I really need to get crafting, I have 26 pacifier clips waiting for me to finish...gulp!...wish me luck...

What is Owen barfing at?

"What is Owen barfing at?", Yelling Girl asks
"barking at?" I say
"Ya barfing at!"

Well he was barking at himself in the mirror...or maybe he was barfing at himself who knows what his self perception is.

I bit the bullet this morning and made a cake..a real cake not a no bake cake, a bake in the oven make your own icing cake! I had to... I bought a cook book at the school book fair and it had a recipe for a Root Beer Cake...here is the recipe...

ROOT BEER FLOAT CAKE

1 package 2 layer size yellow cake mix
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Root Beer
1 recipe Root Beer Icing

- grease 9x13 inch baking pan, set aside, preheat oven to 350 degrees
-prepare cake according to boxed instructions, except substitute liquid for Root Beer, and add vanilla.
-spread batter evenly in pan
-bake according to boxed instructions
-cool on wire rack, flip and cool on other side.
-cut in half length or width wise, trim sides and top until flat and even.
-spread a little icing on first half, cover with second half and ice the whole cake together.

ROOT BEER ICING
In a medium bowl beat 1/3 cup butter with beater on high speed until smooth. Add 1 cup icing sugar, beat well. Add in 1 tsp vanilla, and 3 tbsp root beer, beat again until well mixed, gradually add in 2 more cups of icing sugar mix until smooth add in more root beer or icing sugar if you need to make it more spreadable.

So now that I have wasted the morning making a cake, I really need to get to work on the craft fair items...I blistered my thumb on Friday...thank you glue gun!!! It is better now, sigh...ok get a move on, here I go...I'm going now...this is me going...bye!...

Indiana Jones & Young and the Restless...

Yelling Girl can hum these two songs...being she is only 3 years old I am impressed! Now her knowing these songs is another thing...
I am a stay at home mom and everyday at 2pm I watch Young and the Restless...her brothers come home from school and play Lego Indiana Jones, no fear she is not watching the movies... she does watch Y&R with me though...hey I have watched since I was 3, and I turned out alright...ish...
Funny she gets mad at me when I sing the Barney song to her, but ask her to sing Indian Jones and she is all over it...

I am so proud of my middle boy...he is being featured in our local weekly newspaper next week. I will post the article so you can all see how great my child is. Ok so I nominated him to be featured, but he is the sweetest child I have ever come across. I am not sure if I mentioned his brother has Asperger Syndrom, but while my middle boy was in Gymnastics class, there was an Autistic boy in the class...at the end of the first class his teacher came to me and said..."I had the kids pair up and your son picked this boy because he said he is used to it and it may be hard for the other kids"
To me that said he knew that other boy might have problems and he could help him and maybe the other kids might not know what to do. He gives me a lump in my throat nearly every day...I love that boy!

So this weekend is fast coming and I am in such a crunch for time I could hide in a hole and cry...Friday I am having dinner with my brother...I am so excited to do this. I was 14 years old when he was born, and we have different moms, so I really barely know him...He is a very special guy...you know the people who have a glow, that you know will be something HUGE when they are done and ready for it...he has it. I have never met anyone so smart, so articulate he is something special and he is my brother!
Saturday I am driving with 3 kids for 2 hours to see family...then drive 2 hours to come home...it will be a long day...but I am sure it will be fun. Yelling Girl loves road trips, and we are taking Owen, (my puppy) with us. It should be entertaining...if not there is always martinis when I get home, and the kids are asleep.

Sunday I have to get my butt in gear and make some items for the craft fair next weekend...I am about 1/2 way ready...I am so easily distracted. I need to do it and do it BIG...I know this craft fair will be great for me. I have seen several commercials on TV for it, that is big right? Yep...I need to get going and plug in the glue gun and warm up the sewing machine. Off I go...thanks for reading...TTYL

Am I wrong..Is it soooo wrong?!?

I am wrong to do this?
I taught my boys how to play poker this weekend...the 12 year old played a bit before...but my 7 year old fell into the game~ it was between my brother, myself and our 2 cousins...my Dad joined in part way through the afternoon...and yes we did play for money..."go big or go home" I told the boys. well they couldn't go home I drove, so they played. What a great fun time we had...maybe a little out of the norm for a mommy to do with her kiddies, but the boys had a really fun time. My oldest was out in about 20 minutes, but my little guy hung in pretty good. Maybe 3/4 of the way through he lost out...It was then me against the men in the family...I came in 4th. Our dad won, it was his birthday so maybe it was a pity win...maybe he was just good...I say he was good. We are having a family tournament for Christmas, so I bought cards and chips so the boys and I can practice at home...I am going to win this time!

The 3 kids went to their swimming lessons today and I have never seen such happiness on Yelling Girls face..she was smiles and happy hops all over the place. My middle son and oldest are in the same class, neither can swim, so I thought it would be fun to put them in together. So far no one has killed the other, fingers crossed, knock on wood. You never know with boys. Middle son can swim under water now, but not at the surface!? Who does that? Weird 7 year olds I suppose. My oldest still kind of flaps around, he got his hair wet today, so that is a step forward.

I am still working on getting ready for the Christmas craft fair...time is running out, an I finally feel good enough to really start. Yes I have started, but not really. My oldest got sick 2 weeks ago and then when he got better I got sick, so I lost 2 weeks of getting clips and ponies made. Oh well I will bust a move and do it all in the next 2 weeks. I only have until December 6th though..wish me luck...Should I make clips for fur babies as well?
This is my other son...6 months old and his name is Owen...he is a Chihuahua crossed with a Toy Poodle...how cute is that face?

Thanks for reading...

Stuffy nose and a martini...

I swear I haven't smelled a thing in a week...until today. I did my friends hair this afternoon and the smell of the hair chemicals restored a bit of life in me. BTW I have been a licensed hairdresser since '94. I love the smell of perms and hair color.. I can't explain it, it is a comfort smell to me I guess. So I gave her a cut and a color touch up and I was so happy to do it, it made me remember what I am ...I am me! Not just a Mommy, not just a wife... I am me. I am good at something and something that I do all on my own makes me feel good about myself.

Tonight I am going to watch an old Black and White Vincent Price movie with my 12 year old. The good old movies that give you a scare, not a gross out. Though I do love a good gross out movie, he doesn't do to well with them though. It is also Martin Friday! My husband and I started this Friday night tradition about 2 years ago...his is an olive vodka martini and I am an onion vodka, dirty martini...mmmmm....waiting til the kids are sleeping though...

So 2 more weeks until my very first Christmas Craft Fair!
Vancouver Island’s 2nd Annual ~ The Gift WinterFest and Family Expo, taking place Dec. 6th and 7th 2008, at the Eagle Ridge Arena, in Langford.

Come check it out!
I have even seen commercials for it. I am so excited. I have been to school craft fairs and flea markets, but never a REAL craft fair before. I really hope this all works out. I have a lot of work to do still...clips,

ponies and so much more to make and display...yikes!

Sooooooo.....that's about all for today, thanks again for reading...tell your friends. This will get better as I figure it all out...
