CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!!

It has been months since my last blog and let me tell you what has happened...December our debit cards was copied and used...they got nearly $400.00 before I caught it, then it took the bank 2 weeks to refund it...January 7Th...2 days after husband left ( he is in the navy) I am sitting downstairs in the rec room ~all 3 kids are in bed...pour a glass of wine, 9pm comes and finally after weeks a new episode of the new 90210 is on...weeee I am so excited, the show starts and after 10 minutes the first commercial break. 10 MINUTES of sitting I put my foot down and step into 2 INCHES of water! It took 10 minutes for my entire lower level of the house to flood...so of course I grab towels, try while sobbing to stop the moving/flowing water in my house...where was it coming from? Outside with all the snow we had then the rain it all melted into MY house...I wake up Ben and had him try to help clean up the water but we realize it is no good, so in my panic I decide to pick up my BRAND NEW bedroom furniture...so here we are a 12 year old boy barely weighing in at 95 pounds and me hysterical picking up solid wood GIANT furniture and placing the legs onto picnic plates. When I ran out of plates I wrapped the legs in tinfoil...
the next room to save was the rec room, luckily nothing in there was worth much we picked up toys, and lifted one couch to the other. The other rooms were the laundry and the second bathroom. So midnight comes and I let poor Ben go back to bed...I start calling plumbers, I had about 5 hang ups on me then finally I got someone to come out and help in the early morning. I guess I wasn't the only house being flooded that night. Insurance man came that morning to and clean up began...it was finally done 2 weeks ago! January 7Th until the beginning of APRIL!!! I have a few restoration companies I will not recommend I will tell you that! So in between this house mess, our VISA got stolen, Ben was being bullied in school and I had to change his classroom, and help him out a bit, I had a rock hit the car windshield and put a hole through it, and my cat died! CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!
Poor Chase was nearly 15 years old and a great great cat. It all happened so fast, in about 2 weeks he lost 10 pounds and got really sleepy all the time. On his last day he was sick all morning so I emergency visited the vet, he spent the morning there and they called to say his kidneys were shutting down...my husband and I talked about it and decided to leave him with his dignity and let him pass in peace. It was very hard for me to tell someone to do that, but I knew he would be better off. I was with him while the vet treated him and I brought him home. We placed him in out yard under a sunny spot and plated a Rhododendron bush above him...I will sorely truly miss my Chase.

I really wish the next half of the year is better on me than this half was...I am hopeful, my business has been going well and I have a HUGE baby fair I bought a table at in September. I have some new ideas I am working on, and themes... I started an Eco friendly line that I will be listing soon...organic fabrics and bamboo headbands and elastics.
I will blog more once my head has stopped spinning this is the first week that nothing HORRIFIC has happened to me, but it is only Monday...gulp...

TIRAMISU ON THE BRAIN

TIRAMISU...desert of the Gods...I love it, I make it, I want more...

MAKE YOUR OWN YOU CAN'T HAVE MINE!!! grrrr...(wraps arms around bowl)

It looks complicated, but totally NOT!

Ingredients
250g mascarpone cheese
250g cream cheese (room temp)
125ml (1/2 cup)whipping cream (unwhipped)
4 eggs
500g lady fingers (usually is about 2 packages)
2 cups of coffee (strong!!!)
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup sugar (yes a second one)
3 tablespoons of brandy
cocoa for sprinkling

-make coffee and add first 1/3 of sugar and brandy to it, stir and put to the side in a flat bowl to dip the lady fingers in.

-in a small bowl beat egg WHITES until they start to foam and slowly add in the second sugar...mix until egg whites make peaks.

-beat egg yolks in a large mixing bowl, add room temp cream cheese and mascarpone cheese...when all are mixed smooth add the whipping cream, beat well...slowly add in the egg white mixture, blend well but slowly.

-now you will built the tiramisu...I use a large flat bottomed bowl (it looks bigger and prettier)
take the lady fingers and dip then in the coffee and make a single layer on the bottom of your bowl, sprinkle liberally with the cocoa, pour about 1/3 of the cheese batter on top, spread evenly, make a second layer of coffee dipped cookies, cocoa and cheese batter, a third layer of cookies, cocoa and cheese batter and finish with another LIBERAL sprinkle of cocoa

cover bowl and refrigerate for 5-6 hours...I make it first thing in the morning so it gets to set longer, the longer it sits the better it tastes!

My 3 kids love it so don't worry about the brandy there is so little in it no one will know...

ENJOY!

***tweak this recipe to your own taste...have fun! I highly recommend having coffee with this.

I made an ETSY treasury about it...

***STAR OF THE WEEK***

So here it is FINALLY, no mistakes this time, they remembered to feature the poor little guy...Of course I bought all the copies the rec center had tonight. Tomorrow I will go into our little town and buy up the rest...

Swimming lessons finished up today...no one got leveled up, but they all did really good considering they have NEVER been in lessons before. We celebrated with a Mc.D's dinner...barf...I will wash the taste out of my mouth later with a martini...

The craft fair was pretty disappointing, very few people came through, and even fewer bought. Thankfully I made enough to pay for the table and the babysitter and come home with a little cash as well. I sold about 50 sets of clips, not to bad...now here is where it gets exciting...someone who bought a couple sets also runs our islands biggest baby fair, she emailed me this morning and invited me to sell there next summers end! This time I will have 8 months to get ready, so there is no way I can goof off this time...if I do please remind me and kick my butt back into gear.

http://www.vancouverislandbabyfair.com/fair_information.cfm

I have lots of left overs from this past craft fair so I will be listing as soon as we have a NON-rainy day here so I can take pictures.

Wishful thinking...we have been here since July and I swear it has rained nearly every day! Whatever! there is always the stove top, the light there is awesome.

So again thanks for reading, and feel free to comment, suggest, or leave a thoughtful thought...

Happy Wednesday!

***BTW! I figured out how to link my pictures...YAY ME!

2 days to go! Where is it?

So here we go the big count down...Saturday is the big day... and I am soooo not ready! Well maybe mostly ready, but still work needs to be done. The craft fair is on Saturday...I don't even know how to get there! eep! I will google map it to find out how to get there and I will have my cell phone so I can call for help. I have the worst sence of direction ever! I got lost going to the grocery store once and got home over an hour later...So that is why I have a cell phone to call for directions.

On another note my middle son was supposed to be featured in our local paper yesterday nad they forgot to put him in. They promiced he would be in next week...stay tuned!
I decided this year with the kids Christmas money from relatives I would add to their swimming lessons instead of buying them a dumb toy they wouldn't play with in 3 days...any opinions on this?

So today is a short blog, I really need to get crafting, I have 26 pacifier clips waiting for me to finish...gulp!...wish me luck...

What is Owen barfing at?

"What is Owen barfing at?", Yelling Girl asks
"barking at?" I say
"Ya barfing at!"

Well he was barking at himself in the mirror...or maybe he was barfing at himself who knows what his self perception is.

I bit the bullet this morning and made a cake..a real cake not a no bake cake, a bake in the oven make your own icing cake! I had to... I bought a cook book at the school book fair and it had a recipe for a Root Beer Cake...here is the recipe...

ROOT BEER FLOAT CAKE

1 package 2 layer size yellow cake mix
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Root Beer
1 recipe Root Beer Icing

- grease 9x13 inch baking pan, set aside, preheat oven to 350 degrees
-prepare cake according to boxed instructions, except substitute liquid for Root Beer, and add vanilla.
-spread batter evenly in pan
-bake according to boxed instructions
-cool on wire rack, flip and cool on other side.
-cut in half length or width wise, trim sides and top until flat and even.
-spread a little icing on first half, cover with second half and ice the whole cake together.

ROOT BEER ICING
In a medium bowl beat 1/3 cup butter with beater on high speed until smooth. Add 1 cup icing sugar, beat well. Add in 1 tsp vanilla, and 3 tbsp root beer, beat again until well mixed, gradually add in 2 more cups of icing sugar mix until smooth add in more root beer or icing sugar if you need to make it more spreadable.

So now that I have wasted the morning making a cake, I really need to get to work on the craft fair items...I blistered my thumb on Friday...thank you glue gun!!! It is better now, sigh...ok get a move on, here I go...I'm going now...this is me going...bye!...

Indiana Jones & Young and the Restless...

Yelling Girl can hum these two songs...being she is only 3 years old I am impressed! Now her knowing these songs is another thing...
I am a stay at home mom and everyday at 2pm I watch Young and the Restless...her brothers come home from school and play Lego Indiana Jones, no fear she is not watching the movies... she does watch Y&R with me though...hey I have watched since I was 3, and I turned out alright...ish...
Funny she gets mad at me when I sing the Barney song to her, but ask her to sing Indian Jones and she is all over it...

I am so proud of my middle boy...he is being featured in our local weekly newspaper next week. I will post the article so you can all see how great my child is. Ok so I nominated him to be featured, but he is the sweetest child I have ever come across. I am not sure if I mentioned his brother has Asperger Syndrom, but while my middle boy was in Gymnastics class, there was an Autistic boy in the class...at the end of the first class his teacher came to me and said..."I had the kids pair up and your son picked this boy because he said he is used to it and it may be hard for the other kids"
To me that said he knew that other boy might have problems and he could help him and maybe the other kids might not know what to do. He gives me a lump in my throat nearly every day...I love that boy!

So this weekend is fast coming and I am in such a crunch for time I could hide in a hole and cry...Friday I am having dinner with my brother...I am so excited to do this. I was 14 years old when he was born, and we have different moms, so I really barely know him...He is a very special guy...you know the people who have a glow, that you know will be something HUGE when they are done and ready for it...he has it. I have never met anyone so smart, so articulate he is something special and he is my brother!
Saturday I am driving with 3 kids for 2 hours to see family...then drive 2 hours to come home...it will be a long day...but I am sure it will be fun. Yelling Girl loves road trips, and we are taking Owen, (my puppy) with us. It should be entertaining...if not there is always martinis when I get home, and the kids are asleep.

Sunday I have to get my butt in gear and make some items for the craft fair next weekend...I am about 1/2 way ready...I am so easily distracted. I need to do it and do it BIG...I know this craft fair will be great for me. I have seen several commercials on TV for it, that is big right? Yep...I need to get going and plug in the glue gun and warm up the sewing machine. Off I go...thanks for reading...TTYL
